How to save money on a night out in London
Going out to bars and clubs in London can be particularly expensive, with many of the more high-profile venues charging more than £10 just for entry. A typical bottle of beer now costs in the region of £3.50 to £4, with the Government planning to raise the minimum price of alcohol even further in order to tackle the issue of anti-social behaviour related to excessive alcohol consumption. One of the best ways to save money is to ‘buy more, buy less’. This means instead of buying a glass of wine at a bar, consider buying the bottle instead (with your friends chipping in equally!). Bars always charge ridiculously high prices for glasses of wine (almost as expensive as liposuction in London). However it is much cheaper if you buy the entire bottle in the first instance. Another strategy is to have a house party at your place or a friend’s house with cheaper alcohol from a supermarket or grocer. Just make sure you don’t turn up to a club too drunk, otherwise the bouncer will probably refuse you entry!
Make sure you divide the cost between everyone in your group. Don’t end up being the person who is expected to pay for all the drinking rounds. Instead, take it in turns with each member of your group so that everyone contributes their money evenly. Also, make sure you always have cash with you as many venues require a minimum £10 payment for customers using a credit or debit card (forcing you to pay even more).
